Watch and learn as the late Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen teaches you how to think as a Christian. God didn’t call us to be secret agents; He demands our minds, as well as our hearts, and expects us to be able to give a reasonable defense for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15 ). Dr. Bahnsen reveals that our job as Christian apologists is not to change unbelieving hearts, but to simply close the mouth of the unbeliever. This 5-part video series will show you how. Talks Include:    • Part One: The Myth of Neutrality (49 min)    • Part Two: Introduction to Worldviews (51 min)    • Part Three: Worldviews in Conflict (53 min)    • Part Four: Defending the Christian Faith (50 min)    • Part Five: Problems for Unbelieving Worldviews (90 min) Bonus: An audio CD of Dr. Bahnsen debating atheist George Smith is also included! Speaker: Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen Specifications: 3 DVDs (video), 5 lectures, 253 minutes, plus 1 CD (audio)

Presuppositional Apologetics

Presuppositional Apologetics - Stated and Defended Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen (1948-1995) provided perhaps the clearest, most faithful, and most powerful advancement of Cornelius Van Til’s presuppositional apologetics of anyone. This statement holds true both for Bahnsen’s written scholarly work as well as his practical applications in both formal and informal debates and exchanges. Those knowledgeable of Van Til’s “Copernican Revolution” in Christian apologetical method will understand the enormity of this compliment to Greg Bahnsen. Those not formerly introduced to Van Til or Bahnsen will understand shortly after beginning this volume—for this book presents the most clear, systematic, and rigorous statement and defense of Van Tillian presuppositional apologetics written to date. This volume presents the systematic counterpart to Bahnsen’s earlier publication, Van Til’s Apologetic: Readings and Analysis. While that previous work included a broad and topical overview and explanation of Van Til’s contribution—which, though highly organized according to an outline, and much more accessible than Van Til’s own massive corpus of writing, still does not fully execute the task of a systematic work—this volume gets closer to an apologetical version of “systematic theology,” as opposed to, say, “biblical theology.” Both approaches provide vital understanding, and now we have both. This book is an important part of the historical record. It is authentic Bahnsen, vintage Bahnsen. It displays brilliantly his intellectual gifts and his devotion to the Lordship of Christ in all areas of life. Despite my differences with Bahnsen, I revere him yet today as a great blessing of God tothe church and as one of the most brilliant apologists I have known. He seeks to set forth the comprehensive lordship of Christ over the human mind as over everything else, and he does that effectively. In that goal we should all be in agreement, and we should seek Bahnsen’s help to become more consistent in our commitment to the Lord. So I commend this book to all who seek to think God’s thoughts after him.  — Dr. John M. Frame, J. D. The Return of the Village Atheist

Many Christians have replied to philosophically sophisticated forms of atheism (Nietzsche, Bertrand Russell, Michael Martin, Kai Nielsen, et al), but today there is also a growing literature of atheism geared to the popular level, the realm of the so-called village atheist. Joel McDurmon tackles popular atheism in a popular but cogent way. A fine apologetic work.-- Dr. John Frame, Professor of Systematic Theology and Philosophy, Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando, FL. Joel McDurmon is a graduate of Reformed Episcopal Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and an adjunct speaker, writer, and researcher for American Vision.

Marks of a Cult

In today’s religiously diverse and relativistic culture, labeling a group a cult may seem extreme to many people, not to mention rude. Even people who believe in absolute Truth and further believe that Jesus is the only way to eternal life can get confused about just what constitutes real Christianity. Just why are Baptists properly considered Christians, but Mormons are not? Or why is the Jehovah’s Witness religion classified as an anti-Christian cult while Presbyterians or Wesleyans or Pentecostals are simply seen as denominations within the Christian faith? With the explosion of different sects that claim to honor and follow Jesus, how does one differentiate between true Biblical Christianity and an aberrant religious movement? Just what are “the marks of a cult?

Global warming fiasco

Published in Apologetics

Climate change has been a focus of the big government proponents agenda for some time now. The surrounding hype and hysteria has proven to be quite remarkable (and entertaining) to say the least. Name calling, objective statements like "the debate over global warming/climate change is over" and the amounts of money our governments want to spend have been ridiculous. This issue provided a field day for all big government advocates. From the ill informed citizens to all forms of Australian government, climate change/global warming became the vehicle to further advance the socialist agenda. What idiots we have been! Many, many well intentioned people have been sucked into advance the red gravy train! Governments and leaders across this nation have pledged billions of our tax funds to further interfere with every industry imaginable. Any clear thinking, logical person should be able to realise that any sort of carbon tax will artificially increase prices of everything, create a carbon tax credit cartel and make industries a whole lot less efficient? Just think of the red tape! Well that is what happens when our governments get involved with manipulating business. Bigger government means more tax, higher cost of living and less freedom. Yes, government interference to save the planet will cost you money and will reduce the capacity of businesses to develop new, cleaner technology. Think of it this way - if Australians are passionate about reducing carbon emissions we can simply buy products/services that have left a smaller "carbon footprint!" This "free choice" of individual consumers will be heard by businesses and industries. Through the actions (buying or not buying) of individuals the market will naturally "get rid of" businesses/industries that don't shift their products to meet consumer desires. This is the wonder of the free market! Government intervention on the other redistributes wealth to special interest groups, unions and pet projects; in other words it is a waste of your hard earned tax dollars. Just imagine the benefit you and businesses could make to society with a reduced tax bill! You should read Dr Geoff Downes' articles on Christianity, Scripture and Climate Change (one, two, three).

The bashed cop and teaching evolution

One of today’s (24/05/10) cover stories for The Mercury, a Hobart newspaper, is entitled “Bashed cop speaks out.” The off duty constable went to the aid of a lady who had been hit and kicked by a thug. Three men then proceeded to beat the police officer until they were informed whom they were beating. It is the third time in eighteen months that this officer has been attacked. It is a shameful act of cowardice on behalf of the assailants. Constable Blegg commented that; “so many excuses are made for people. Blame this or that but it's the individual who has got to be accountable.”[1] He is correct; we live in a society wherein individual responsibility is almost a thing of the past. This should force us to ask why that is. For what reason do people in our “peaceful” city/state believe that is ok to bash someone? As Christians we need to jump onto the unbelieving worldview for a moment. It is important to realise that ideas have consequences. Ideologies lead to a conclusion.

Christianity Scripture and Climate Change - Part 2

Humans as a cancer on the world Conspiracy theories abound in many public debates, climate change being no exception.  As Christians we know there is a battle for this world, because Scripture tells us so.  That war was won definitively at Calvary and the remaining battles we fight are essentially mopping up operations as the gospel steadily advances over the centuries to fill the earth and renew it.  The battle ebbs and flows in different parts at different times, and at this time and place it seems we (the church) are on the back foot as God disciplines His people to return them to a foundational, presuppositional commitment to His word.  That discipline takes part of its form in the current ascendency of anti-christian thought that is naturally and fundamentally opposed to the mind of God.  When this is taken to its logical conclusion it will be shown to lead to folly and insanity, for as C.S Lewis argued, "sin is madness’.
