Atheism and Evolution - Part 1 - A Tool of War

It has often been said that evolution is to atheism, what creation is to Christianity. I have said so myself on occasion. The doctrines of evolution and creation are foundational to the worldviews built upon them. Atheism requires a naturalistic explanation for how we came to be. Thus a commitment to evolution will most likely lead you to an atheistic position (at least in the first generation). For many this is true. But I have come to wonder about the logic of such reasoning. How committed is atheism to evolution, really?
It has been said before that “culture is religion externalised.”[1] What we believe, our basis for making moral decisions (religion) comes out our fingertips and impacts every area of life. I have been studying the history of the Australian Light Horse regiments in Palestine during World War 1, and their role in freeing Jerusalem from centuries of Islamic tyranny. I have been collecting uniforms and equipment these troops wore, using them in living history displays to help remind our culture of where we have come from. Uniforms in war serve two main purposes. They tell us who are our mates and who are our enemies. As Christians we are engaged in spiritual warfare. All people wear cultural uniforms in the way they dress and behave.

Atheism and Evolution - Part 2 - Up or Down

There is only one standard that tells us if we are heading onwards and upwards, or heading down and out: the Bible. Scripture defines what the creator of the universe determines is good and bad. In Christ we have been given eyes to see and ears to hear what Moses and the prophets tell us. And being in Christ we know that we are His if we obey His commandments (Jn. 14:15 ). These commands start in Genesis and end in Revelation.
