Subtitle: building a Christian family legacy in a time of cultural decline
One lone family amid cultural and religious collapse struggles to maintain faith in their time and future generations.
This ancient clan demonstrates the successful transition of faith that remains aflame for centuries. Communicating zeal for God that any Christian father can emulate today, this Biblical narrative unfolds an obscure character's life. In a time of spiraling moral and theological decline, The Promise of Jonadab: Building a Christian Family Legacy in a Time of Cultural Decline encourages Christian families not only to stand but to pass on the torch of their faith securely throughout the generations. What can Christian families learn from one minor Old Testament man whose godly line still continues today? The answer communicates the strong and sure message of hope in The Promise of Jonadab.
Excerpt:
In the face of looming threats against the nation of Israel and God's honor, one man took hold of the words of God and believed them in a way few of his contemporaries did. He made a plan and with God's help followed that plan and led his family to do the same. He lived to see and participate in the fulfillment of some of God's words, but not all of them. Two hundred fifty years later when those prophecies were fulfilled, he would not be alive to witness the faithfulness of his descendants and the vindication of his own faithfulness....They had survived the first calamity, but their security and continuation as a family was in question when they met Jeremiah in the Temple. Unlike Abraham who heard the promise but never saw its fulfillment, Jonadab never heard the little-known promise about his family that emerged from the lips of the prophet Jeremiah. As though obedience to God were its own reward, he lived without ever receiving in this life the sure word of promise that would be given to his descendants. For the unswerving obedience and the faithfulness of his descendants, he received clearly one of the most extraordinary promises ever given to any father and his family in the Bible....
